Aleksandr knows the importance of communicating and working with others and does both enthusiastically; he is a hard worker who wants to do what’s best for himself, his peers, and his employers.
In 2014, Aleksandr Kouk graduated from New York University in New York, New York, with a degree in Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. He pursued this degree because of his interests in high school; he graduated with honors in 2010 with AP scholar distinctions in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature, and U.S. History. These fields of study increased his interest in the medical fields, leading to Aleksandr attending the University of Medical Health Sciences and reading medical studies in his spare time. He ensures that he follows the latest trends in the medical field to always be up-to-date on what’s going on in his field of interest.
His volunteer work furthered Aleksandr Kouk’s medical interest. In his time as a volunteer, Aleksandr has worked as an Anatomy Teaching Assistant, a Health Fair Volunteer, and a Triage Nurse Volunteer Assistant for Kings Highway Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.
His volunteer work is in addition to his professional career. Over the years, Aleksandr Kouk has worked at the Amazon Distribution Center JFK 8 on Staten Island, New York, where he learned how to organize and pay attention to detail while preparing Amazon orders systematically. He would package over 200 packages per hour on a daily basis and collaborate with floor managers, Human Resources, and other warehouse employees. Aleksandr was an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the NYULMC Proteomics Laboratory while pursuing his undergraduate degree. This position had Aleksandr assisting in the preparation of biological mass spectrometry, the mapping of posttranslational modifications, and de novo protein sequencing.
Aleksandr Kouk started his work in the medical field when he became employed by the Bay Ridge Ambulance Organization; he was an Emergency Medical Technician and Dispatcher for the non-profit ambulance organization. He became certified for the position in 2012 and has been Emergency Medical Technician Course Certified ever since. Aleksandr recently found employment with the Bethesda Special Needs Program and worked as a water safety instructor for young adults with autism, palsy, and down syndrome. Working with water isn’t new to Aleksandr. Beyond being the Captain of New York University’s Men’s Varsity Swimming and Diving Team, Aleksandr was a pool attendant for Complete Body Development and volunteered as a coaching assistant for St. Patrick’s Youth Church Swimming Program.
Outside of his professional and volunteer work, Aleksandr Kouk enjoys taking time for himself and his hobbies. He loves going to the gym and reading, especially when the reading updates him on medical news and trends. Aleksandr is capable of fixing cars and enjoys doing so; he also loves to take his dog for long walks in the park. Aleksandr is a traveler who greatly appreciates long road trips that allow him to explore new cities and towns he’s never been to before.
